Video Games – The history of video games

Video games have easily been the world's biggest and fastest-growing form of entertainment that we have seen in our lifetime. Currently in today's world video games are still growing profusely and now Today I am going to fill you in on the history of video games and how it all started.
So, no one really knows when the “first’ video game was created. But, based on what we do know on October 8th, 1958, a physicist who goes by the name “William Higinbotham” created what was thought to be the first video game ever created. It was a simple tennis game, that was quite similar to the classic 1970s game “Pong”. Throughout the 1960’s there were a few mini games that were created but did not become popular. Now, the year is 1972. The “Video Game Industry” is starting to get recognition, suddenly an American game manufacture Atari, Inc decided to make a new revolutionary game called “Pong” the creation of Pong really boosted the Video game industry. Pong consisted of two paddles that two players used to volley a small ball and forth across the screen. Atari Inc also came out with some of the first arcade games, but the most popular game was pong. Throughout the 80’s and 90’s more game consoles and video games started to make an appearance strengthening the video game industry.
Now we are getting into the late 90’s video games have made a spectacular appearance and are getting very popular amongst children, teens, and even adults! This was still only the start though. By the time we entered a new century (2000’s) it was time for the video game industry to show what it could really pull off and be revolutionary, and it did just that. In the early 2000’s we started seeing the rise of some of the most popular video games we know and play today, such as Call of Duty, Battlefield, Legend of Zelda, Pokémon, and so much more! Throughout the 2000’s we saw the release of many extremely popular video games. Now, we are roughly in 2012 – 2017 this is the era where many kids and teens were playing video games a ton and very easily getting addicted, many parents realized that video games were becoming addictive to their kids and so they limited their kids gaming time. Now that brings us to the present day, we have new video games and game consoles being released every year, all the game companies are trying to out preform themselves and compete amongst each other to make the best game possible.
I would like to conclude this blog by saying video games will forever be revolutionary and always changing. And speaking of that we haven't even come close to seeing what the history of video games could look like, I guess we will just have to wait and see what really happens though.
